18 Jul Jane Austen, 200 years on…

The 18th July 2017 marks the 200th anniversary of the death of Jane Austen, the much loved English novelist. Scarletts was built in the 1760’s for Mr & Mrs Leigh Perrot, the maternal uncle and aunt of Jane Austen. She regularly visited them in this house and wrote them letters.

The house has been refurbished and extended by the present owners and is a superb example of a house of this era with an abundance of spacious and well proportioned accommodation. The house has a wealth of period features including high ceilings, original fireplaces, deep skirting boards and ornate cornicing. It is elegant and beautifully presented throughout.

The house is now for sale with Philip Booth Esq for £3.5m. http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-66216086.html
